It's about time he overtook that guy named Mark...something. Mark Tyeshera?
This is personal for me. Justin Morneau is in the midst of the best season of his career, or at the very least the best start of his career, and it's pretty cut and dried to me: he deserves to start in the All-Star game. Why? Because he's the best first baseman in the American League, that's why. Mark Teixeira? Not so much. The only reason he's even in the top five in balloting is because Yankee (and other ill-informed) fans everywhere are blindly punching his ticket in spite of his terrible season.
When MLB.com announced yesterday that Justin had taken the lead, by roughly 40,000 votes, that was fantastic. Because it meant that, in spite of all of the arguments about injustice in voting and representation where the All-Star Game is concerned, there were enough of you out there who cared enough and were smart enough to know that the starting spot for the AL first baseman belonged to our Canadian Superhero.
Just don't stop voting. Not yet. Nothing would make an insane Yankee fan happier than having all nine starters be guys in pinstripes (Yankee pinstripes), which means there's every chance that those same insane fans are now voting that much harder to get their boy back on top.
So get out there and VOTE CANADIAN, EH!
