Orlando Hudson going on the disabled list, J.J. Hardy having cortisone shot
So says Kelly Thesier of MLB.com. Hudson can come off the DL on June 15; Hardy is presumably attempting to gut it out.

*sigh*
Its for the best I assume. I have a feeling Hardy will need the DL eventually, but hopefully not.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. ~ Terence Mann
Hardy said it hurts to swing
Damn it, go on the DL let Ploffe and Punto play SS and get healthy. It’s a long season.
No Plouffe
Cuddyer is back from bereavement and replaces Hudson.
The non-1B infielders are Punto, Harris, Tolbert, Valencia and Hardy (who presumably will see limited play for a few days after the shot).
Hardy...
…got new medication for his wrist over the weekend, and said it has worked thus far. The Twins gave him the shot today, and they think it should have him fully ready to go on Thursday.
As for Hudson, he is still improving and his wrist against checked out fine yesterday. The doctor said take a few more days, and he is expected to be ready next Tuesday.
Hardy Thursday, Hudson next week
Sounds fine. It is a long season and being careful with Hardy’s nagging injury will pay dividends. It will probably help Hudson to heal up all over with two weeks off, as well. Even with the injuries, the Twins are still up by 3.5 games.

Why didn't they put him on the DL after the collision again?

Having Tolbert up is the same as playing short handed
It’s common to wait to DL a player unitl it’s clear an injury will take the full 15 days to heal. That’s why MLB allows retroactive moves. 8 days shorthanded + 7 days of Hudson > 15 days of Tolbert.
