Same thing happened with David Wright in his first year in Citi Field. He hit 10 all year, and now he’s at 14. If Mauer’s power doesn’t come back this year, it will be back soon.

She works for the teams official website, so she’s more of an “access” reporter — not heavy on the criticism, but lots of quotes from actual Twins.

Absolutely. But I salute her for going out of her way to bring in some stats and make it a worthwhile read. I betcha there are dozens of beat reporters out there happy to phone in a couple of quotes and call it a story.

I should know. I’ve played that part before! (Though not in sports, heh.)
