DY's Case for Anaheim

In the past couple of weeks I keep thinking that our resident Left Fielder may deserve a spot in the Mid-Summer Classic, but then I smack myself for thinking such a thing. Im sure your sayin "Delmon Young, the same Delmon Young that people kept there babies away from in fear that they would catch "dropisitis" and the one that people cringed every time a ball was hit his way?" Yes I initially thought that too but then I started paying close attention to him and now my thinking has changed.

As I've been watching Delmon I've noticed that he has a better eye for the plate and is taking better swings, now that by no means should put him in the All-Star game but then I looked at the stats and I was shocked at what I found.

For LF's he has five less than the leader Josh Hamilton in RBI's. Keep in mind that Hamilton has 53 more at bats.

He is third in the Doubles category with one less than Lewis and three less than Josh.

He's fourth in Homeruns.

For Strikeouts hes SECOND, yes Second behind only Juan Pierre

He's fifth in BA.

Third in SLG%

Last in Walks

Fouth in Fielding Percentage

Second in Assists

And Second in Zone Rating.

There were three Left Fielders ahead of him at the last All Star update (Hamilton, Crawford and Gardner). Young should be ahead of Gardner, and you can try to make a case for Crawford.

All Im saying is maybe we need to consider DY as a candidate for the team. Im not saying he should make the team, but just think about it. However I do think he should be on the Final Vote Ballot because I dont see him making it from Players or Coaches.
