PrintWhy isn't He back up? i know he had surgery or something in the offseason cause to be honest i liked the stuff he showed and to be honest i would acutally prefer to have him be the back-up catcher than butera, no offense to Butera, but morales showed a lot of hustle i thought last year and had the speed we could really use right now. but that's just my opinion, what do you guys think?

lol, not really any better speed. Better bat, worse defense. It’s an arguable case, and I’m not sure if he’s still rehabbing his injuries or what
no he is ready to return
what is keeping him at AAA as opposed to the bigs is his 21% of baserunners caught.

but that is the FO’s reason why he is not up here, not mine. I could care less how many he catches on base, as long as his bat is good!

it seems stupid his arm is what is keeping him down there I will take an offensive threat with a sub par arm (let him catch pavano not like the catchers arm matters vs baserunners there lol I love the stache but sweet jesus) over a bullpen catcher that someone had the brilliant idea of letting actually play.
Morales can also Pinch hit or DH
Damn, he could run for Jimmers. Butera is a waste of a spot on the 25 man roster. Their is someting about weak hitting, defencive players Gardy likes.

I suspect Gardy is happy with Butera catching Pavano and doesn't want to change

I think Butera is the fourth best catcher in the organization. Mauer just can’t do it all.

Tell Gardy
Butera is the 4th best catcher in the Organiation, maybe the 5th. Just like with Slama, we all know, Why the Hell Does it take so long for the FO or Gardy to get it. Most say Valencia should be starting more too. This is really starting to piss me off. Waldrop?
Both need to be up?
Plus Mauer? So, we carry 3 catchers? Why the hell would we do that! Our bench is already handicapped with Thome, so now we add another catcher to the bench, further handicapping it?

when rosters expand in September, then we can discuss bringing both Morales and Ramos up. However, right now, 3 catchers would really handicap our bench.

Repko can
play all 3 outfield positions adequately and he can Pinch run. He has value on the bench. Adding Ramos and Morales to the bench would handicap it, since those players can only play one position, and not multiple. And neither of them can really be considered a pinch runner; yes, you could pinch run Morales/Ramos for Thome in the bottom of the ninth when you are going for the win, but you would not in normal circumstances.

If Valencia starts at third (which he should)
you have Punto and Casilla on the bench. How much pinch running do you need. I’d like to see Ramos and/or Morales with Thome for the DHing and Pinch hitting/ catching. Thats more versatility then having Repko and Butera. just my HO. I’d like to see more Bats on the bench. Butera,Punto,Thome,Casilla,Repko. I Thome DH’s you really have no pinch hitter? All defence and baserunning.

Repko was equal to Morales in AAA
They’re both consistent 800 OPS hitters in AAA. Not sure why you think so little of Repko and so much of Morales. They’re not even competing for the same bench spot. Morales is better than Butera and should be up in the majors. That’s the issue.
The thing that somewhat chaps my hide about Morales
is that he was drafted as an IF, primarily a 2B, by the Twins. And then after 2 years they moved him to Catcher. And now he can’t get to the bigs, despite being a good hitter who has already hit at the MLB level, because he’s a sucky C.

He made 16 E's in his first 2 years at Rookie ball at 2B in 64 games
21 E’s in 88 games total first 2 years playing 2B, SS, and 3B…….sooooo, not so good
but that was when he was 18 and 19. He’d be more apt to improve at 2B or 3B than moving to a harder position like C imo.
