Twins in on Haren; also on his no-trade list, via MLBTR
Is it weird that I take it personally that someone would put us on their no trade list? The nerve! Anyway, if the Tigers are also in, as the article purports, I hope this doesn't turn into an AL central bidding war (don't worry, they are ALSO on his no trade list, so it's nothing personal. He clearly doesn't like cold weather). They need him more than we do, I suspect, but I really don't like the idea of the Tiggers shoring up their suspect starting pitching staff.

Agreed
Im not so sure I want Haren if he has the Twins on the No Trade list… O well,
But they say the DBax want ML ready pitching, which the Twins have an excess of, between Bakes, Slowes, Duensings, and Blackeys (Please take him!) the Bax have to want at least one of them! Then give them Revere and something else…

This could be a situation
Where the Yankees or another team implodes due to giving up too much. My guess is that the Texas Rangers will tear apart their staff to get Haren in the offseason.
so...
what teams Does he want to play for??

Well he could waive the no-trade
After all, once you get past the cold, we’re very likeable. Just ask Pavano.
I think the Twins must be planning to up payroll next year
For them to even be in on guys like Haren and Oswalt makes me think that. It’s probably a good time to be willing to do that. Both of these guys are better than anything that’s going to be on the FA market not named Cliff Lee. You could maybe make an argument for Lilly or Webb but I’d rather have these guys.
Point being they have big contracts but fair contracts so if they’re planning on expanding payroll even more this is a good way to spend it. It upgrades our biggest weakness, doesn’t lock the team in long term which usually guys like Oswalt and Haren would be looking at 4-5 year deals if they were FA this off season, and is a fair price as long as we dont’ overpay in prospects.
Peyton's good but have you ever heard of Jeff George?
That's true.
Maybe they’ve gotten to a certain point in revenue already this season where they can tell it’s going to hit a certain number. I don’t know. But if they’re serious about these guys, then there’s more revenue there than Rob Antony thought there’d be for next year.
I read
the Twins have already passed 3.1 million tickets sold so maybe they can project out final revenue and if it’s over what they planned maybe they are thinking let’s spend some of next years money this year?
sorry that was alot of “maybes”
Have there been
Any reliable estimates on revenue generated by Target Field?

I've heard they can't count that fast
or that high.
One look at the 2010 Payroll
Puts the Twins at $97.3 million. Joe Mauer will likely increase it to $115 million provided everything else stays the same, in which it will not. Regardless, I would love to see the payroll hit $140 million next year. The only negative is that the Yankees could end up losing the World Series and increase their payroll to $300 million while keeping Derek Jeter out of the mix for next season.
We already talked about the 2011 payroll this week.
Using in-house options and not retaining any free agents puts the Twins around $98 million next season, and that includes Mauer.
Twins on his "No trade list?"
Sounds like a prima donna.

ha - better than oswalt
his demand list is more absurd than santana’s was.
speculation
but if it were me, I’d put some destinations that were more likely than others on the list. Gives you leverage not only in terms of where you will go this year, but could mean extra $$ long term. So maybe it isn’t that he doesn’t want to be in MN, but had a hunch we’d be in the mix.
Not if you are talking Dusty Baker and Domingo Ramos

Haren is overrated
I’d rather bring back Joe Mays and see if he has anything left then let that perennial loser in the clubhouse. We don’t need another spare pitcher we have plenty right now. Once the Rangers drastically overpaid for Lee there ceased to be any starting pitcher of considerable value on the market. Oswalt would be slightly interesting if he didn’t require that the team pick up his laughable option for next year.
Why does Haren have a no trade clause?
He’s not a 5-10 guy, so he must have negotiated it when he signed the extension with Arizona. Can anyone confirm?
He doesn't
However any player can make a request on which teams they like and which they don’t. So, if Nick Punto decides he wants a trade before the end of the wavier deadline, he can get it from Bill Smith and specify that he wants to be traded to a team left on the Twins 2010 Schedule so he can kill this organization at the plate. Likewise Haren can request that his current team not trade him to a city where it tends to get cold in October. Translation, the DiamondBacks are talking to the Marlins, Rays, and Braves concerning his services.
Don't know how he has it, but he has one according to the Phoenix New Times

Pitching Ace Dan Haren Would Waive His No-Trade Clause With Arizona Diamondbacks for Right Team:
Haren has a clause in his contract that allows him to cancel trades to 12 teams this year and eight teams next season.
