Game 104: Mariners @ Twins

Seattle Mariners at Minnesota Twins, Jul 31, 2010 7:10 PM EDT

First Pitch:  6:10 PM CDT
TV:  Fox Sports North
Radio:  Twins Radio Network

Know Thine Enemy: Lookout Landing

W-L G GS CG SHO SV BS IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP
2010 - Kevin Slowey 9-5 22 20 0 0 0 0 111.2 133 60 59 16 21 79 4.76 1.38

Kevin's start last week was his best in a month.  Suffice it to say another quality start would be ideal.  It would be just his seventh.

Slowey's had to pitch to contact a bit more this season than in the past, and he struggles when he doesn't keep hitters off-balance.  Just like his last time out he needs to change location, change pitches and change the speeds those pitches are delivered.  Change is good, Kevin.  Change is good.

W-L G GS CG SHO SV BS IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP
2010 - Felix Hernandez 7-7 22 22 5 1 0 0 160.2 138 56 51 11 45 145 2.86 1.14

Hernandez is a great pitcher, and on a better team he'd be gaining national recognition as such for how he's pitched this year.  Comparing his numbers to Slowey's should make that pretty clear.

Slowey only has more wins because Hernandez can’t get run support worth shit. I almost feel bad for the guy…his team has the lowest avg in the AL, so he doesn’t get as much recognition as he deserves since his team can’t manage to score runs.

it's a very athletic family, from wiki

Marques Tuiasosopo is the son of former NFL defensive lineman Manu Tuiasosopo, who played collegiately for UCLA, then professionally from 1979-86 for the Seahawks and 49ers. Marques’ brother is fullback Zach Tuiasosopo, who played for the Philadelphia Eagles until he was waived on July 11, 2007. Zach and Marques were also teammates on the Raiders for part of a season. His youngest brother, Matt, plays baseball professionally in the Seattle Mariners organization. His sister Leslie played volleyball for Washington, trained with the US National Team, and is currently an assistant coach at the University of Washington. Marques has a wife named Lisa. His uncle, Mike, is currently the defensive tackles coach at the University of Arizona.
