any advice for an out of towner?
let me apologize in advance for trolling your site. I am a fan of the Rangers and my crew and i are planning a weekend trip to check out the satuday and sunday games of labor day weekend against said texas rangers. Of course we plan on walking around yalls new park and seeing the mall of america and such, i also hear the state fair is in town, so we will most likley compare ya'lls(told u i was a texan!) fair to ours. Any suggestions on stuff i have to check out while in your fair burg? eateries? golf courses close to bloomington(im not rich)? night life? any and all suggestions are appreciated. I will likely be wearing an authintic rangers white home jersey that reads Ryan with the #37 on the back. i should be easy to spot on satuday on the thirdbase side or in the centerfield on sunday. I will say that i pull for the twins to win not only win the division, but for this to be an ALCS preview, Joe is a beast! will likely finish in top three for MVP this year with Cano and Hammy. Really looking forward to this.
thanks and sorry again,
Kelly

My suggestions:
Lake Calhoun - always loads of attractive people around those parts.
“Uptown” and downtown - loads of great places for a drink or six, and some good food
Walker Art Museum - if you’re into that kind of thing
State Fair - I know you said you’d be going, but I just want to reiterate that you HAVE to go…DEEP FRIED COOKIES? Hell yes. Meat on a stick? Ditto.
Acme Comedy Club - usually something going on there, it’s on the outskirts of downtown
Barley Johns - Awesome beers, just off 35W and county road D north of Minneapolis
Chilis, across the street from the Rosedale Mall - If you see Megan, tell her I say hello
Haha…enjoy!
Walk around Target Field during the game and get a view from all angels.
We love it. Take a picture in the giant golden clove past the right firled line in the plaza, too.
As for night life, 1st Avenue is great for music.
The Mall of America is only fun if you do not live here, so have a blast. Watch out for kiosk people, they will snarl you in their tenticles.
I do not golf.
If you are staying in Bloomington, I would suggest riding the light rail from the Mall or the Airport to the ballpark, much easier to navigate, and very user fiendly. Driving down there, if you are not from here, is somewhat difficult.
Have fun!
PS: If you go to the StateFair, get some Sweet Martha’s Cookies, and a San Felipe Fish Taco. Both are excellent.
I always loved that one.
thanks guys...
this is the kind of heads up i am looking for. present yourselves to the fella wearing a Ryan #37 rangers white jersey if u are at the ball game saturday and i will buy u a beer.

No, no, no Cheese Curds
Deep fried Cheese Curds are the best thing at the fair!!!
As for Target Field, get anything on the Hrbek’s menu or a Tony O Cuban Sandwich.
I realize that this is probably late. Sorry.
