Around SBN: Bracketology 2012: Duke Finally Steps Up To The No. 1 Line

With players dropping like flies I've been checking through a few players who, while not on the 40-man roster, could be of potential help down the stretch. The one player I took care to look at? Brendan Harris.

Harris has no place at third base, but with recurring injuries to J.J. Hardy, Orlando Hudson and Nick Punto, his versatility in the middle infield could still play a role.

He's not likely to see action. But it is worth noting that in his last ten games, Harris is hitting .306/.350/.417.

He would have to come back onto the 40 man, then off the 40 man later. Punto won’t be out all year either.

Yes

If anyone is added to the 40 man roster I hope it’s Jacque!

If just for a few days of nostalgia. That’d be fine by me…he hit two home runs in the only game I ever saw at the dome, in a comeback win against the Blue Jays in 2002. Great times.

Jacque is done

He isn’t even the 2nd best OF in Rochester right now.

Brendan is a good hitting middle infielder, but he his defense is such a negative, it would be better to play Tolbert. I think they’ve moved on.

his defense?

I beg to differ on his defense. I’m not sure what games you were watching but his defense this year was outstanding but he couldn’t get his bat going. That is the main reason he was sent down. I don’t believe he had any errors either prior to being sent down. However, I don’t think we will be seeing him again.

Harris by the numbers

I’ll use the 2009 numbers because the 2010 numbers are too small to be valid. And I’ll use UZR 150 because he didn’t play at any one position in 2009 for long enough to get a sense of just how dreadful he was using UZR alone.

UZR 150

2B -21.5
SS -38.1
3B -31.9

He is pretty sure handed and he has an accurate arm. But he has horrible range.
