The Revere callup becomes clearer

Ken Lipshez of the New Britain Herald reported that Revere is being called up in part because Jason Repko is leaving the team to be with his wife during the birth of their first child.  So it is likely we will see Revere starting in right field today if Jason Kubel isn't ready to play.

Although the corresponding 40-man roster has yet to be announced, adding Revere a year early will make Mr. Smith's job more difficult in November.  With Revere on the 40-man roster, he now needs to find one more spot for the players that will need to be added.

I sure hope

he uses “Paul Revere” for his batting music. That would be awesome.

Congrats to Repko

I’ll be excited to see Revere, even if it’s only for a few games.

Repko starting

according to early lineups. Unless they meant Revere.

seeing the same thing.

funny, i assumed revere was around to do what repko’s been doing, but hit over .200

not that i don't like repko

just that he was only good when he was playing over his head. now that he’s regressed it’s harder to want to see him in the lineup

Yes, but...

I think there is a place for him on this team, Repko I mean. When you get used to seeing our below average infield on a daily basis it’s nice to see what a really great defender looks like. It’s similar to Butera behind the plate, Mauer is above average defensively so this isn’t a direct comparison, but I feel comfortable with him there based on how he plays in the field, a great job throwing out guys at second and calling a good game. As long as Repko and Butera aren’t both in the lineup, well, I’m not going to complain.

Aside, a great opportunity for Revere to get some major league exposure and give us a look at what he can potentially offer down the road. Happy to see him here.

Infield fail.

I mean below average outfield.

by PRegiment on Sep 5, 2010 1:27 PM EDT up reply actions

that's true

i can’t help but wonder how much better our pitching staff would look with decent OF. liriano’s FIP/xFIP makes me drool. baker would benefit a lot, too. losing gomez was a bigger blow to our team than i had recently remembered.

You must not forget

that losing Gomez meant gaining Hardy

sounds like he was due for the 40 this year anyways...

Read that somewhere, so he was going on it this fall anyways.

Well

Hopefully Revere doesn’t strike out 8/10 times he’s up to bat like Repko and does at least a decent job in the field…that’s all I can ask for.

I'm still a Minnesotan at heart...

This makes a lot of sense

Rather than seeing Tolbert or Casilla try to play OF. Anyway, to have a guy with Revere’s speed available to pinch run is a bonus, as well. It also looks like Kubel is OK, Valencia and Fuentes should be a go sometime in the KC series and Mijares within a week. Punto could be a go when eligible, but only as an emergency replacement.
