With the signing of Pavano it gives the Twins a lot of options in their starting rotation. 6 candidates that have been there before and 2-4 young players on the horizon. It lets us wonder if the Twins could or should trade one of their staters. IMO. The area we could try and improve is the middle infield. Danny Espinosa, Jed Lowrie, Mike Aviles are 3 names that intrigue me. All 3 are not arb. eligible yet and would solidify our middle infield. Espinosa and Lowrie could probaly be our starting ss, with Casilla being the utl. Aviles would be a good utl. inf with Casilla starting. Probably impossible to trade for any of the 3 for obvious reasons, but you never know. I like the Slowey for Joba possibility mentioned, and would do that trade if it was up to me, and the Yankees are willing. My best scenario would be trading Slowey and an AA pitcher to the Nationals for Danny Espinosa. The Nats need starting pitching and might consider a trade along these lines. Espinosa is a pretty highly rated ss/2b and would look nice on our roster. Would also save over 2M on the payroll. I really think Espinosa is an untouchable young player, but one can dream. Trading one of our starters is maybe the wrong move because you can never have to much pitching.
