Twinkie Town 2011 Top 50...Prospect #35!
The winner of our run-off was Rob Delaney, who edged Bruce Pugh by six votes out of 140 cast as our Thirty-Fourth ranked prospect.
Moving on to our Thirty-Fifth round, we will bring back Brett Jacobson, the reliever recently acquired from the Orioles as part of the J. J. Hardy trade.
Because tomorrow is what some are calling the 'game of the year' between the Packers and the Bears, this round will remain open until Noon, Monday, January 24th. Those of you that have been with us for awhile know where my allegiance lies in Sunday's battle.

Went with Pugh

Jacobson
Been waiting for him to reappear. Really like his potential, should be a nice break out after the Twins see what they have.
I'm really not high on Jacobsen...
I’ve talked to baseball people at Vanderbilt that think he’s nothing special. And he’s a 24 year old reliever still in high-A ball.
He could be a late bloomer
Guys typically throw in the high 80s/low 90s in college and add a few MPH to their fastballs after playing pro ball for a couple of years. Jacobson appears to be one such player. Not many Twins prospects throw 94. Still, he’s a reliever who will be 24 at AA. I have him right around 30, ahead of Slama and Delaney but behind Pugh.

Why no love for Lanigan
He’s 2nd on my list. Did well at Ft. Myers. Are people convinced he’s too old for A ball?
Oritz
My order would be:
Ortiz, Singleton, Pugh, Beresford, Jacobson, Lanigan, Osterbrock, Vargas
Surprising, to me, that Ortiz is not getting more attention here. The bounce back year for him last year was impressive. I assume he will be in Beloit this year?
Was Ortiz' comeback impressive?
…eleven home runs and 43 RBI was nice, but .259/.299/.498 wasn’t. What I like best about him is what Seth and some scouts say about his talent. For me, there are still several players in the organization I would rank ahead of Ortiz.
August
He had missed a full year, after an impressive debut. As would be expected, he struggled a little to start, but check out the August numbers. That does it for me. Like I said though, I could go with Pugh or Lanigan here too.
I do recall he carried the team...
…the last few weeks of the year when Arcia was playing injured and wasn’t the same.
clearly our alegence should lie with ...
the stealers in sundays game of the year!

I'll be cheering for them
Followed closely by the Not Packers
This was a triumph
I'm making a note here - huge success

I'm cheering for....
injuries, to all 4 teams.
Bring back Tyler Robertson before #40
He had a bad year but he’s still lefthanded, went to the Arizona Fall League, and is in AAA at age 23. Compare to Bobby Lanigan who is older but has barely made it out of A-ball.
Matt Bashore (another 3rd round lefthanded pitcher) should come back in the 40s.
Robertson is a long shot to start the year in AAA...
…considering all the pitchers the Twins signed this winter. Yes, he did pitch in one game at AAA last year, but look for him to begin the season back at New Britain. Will be interesting to see how he does as a reliever after doing that in the AFL.
I hope they convert him to relief
I was surprised no one drafted him in the Rule 5. With his funky delivery, he ought to get a lot of lefties out. Seems like the kind of guy a team like the Royals could stash on the roster for a year.
