Twinkie Town 2011 Top 50...Prospect #37!
Brett Jacobson picked up 37 of 160 votes (23%) to win the Thirty-Sixth spot in this year's poll. James Beresford was second with 20 votes with four others within four votes of Beresford.
Jose Gonzalez may be one of the better young relievers in the organization, however, he only got two votes and will be dropped from the next round. Added to the next round will be Cesar Ciurcina and Michael McCardell. Ciurcina, who returns after being dropped following the Twenty-First round, was arguably the GCL Twins top starter last year. The 19 year old led the team with 65.0 innings while posting a 5-4 record, 2.91 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 53 strikeouts and only 8 walks. He led the Gulf Coast League in innings pitched, while his WHIP was sixth best and his ERA eleventh best in the league. McCardell was USA Today's Twins Minor League Player of the Year following the 2008 season when he was 9-4 with a 2.86 ERA at Beloit. He moved up to AA New Britain midway through the 2009 season, posting a 5-2 record with a 4.10 ERA in nine starts. He wasn't able to repeat that performance this year as the entire Rock Cats team had off years. McCardell made twenty-three starts for a 3-13 record, 5.28 ERA and team high 150.0 innings.
This round will remain open through Noon, Wednesday, January 26th. Please continue to leave comments as to who you believe should be included in future rounds.

This keeps getting tougher
Between Beresford, Ciurcina, Singleton its really a toss-up. Ending up going with Beresford.
I like Ciurcina
Could have voted for Lanigan again.
I stuck with him
I thought about Ciurcina, but stuck with Bobby. His day will come.
Closers are paid for the postseason. They are relatively meaningless for the preceeding 162 games.

It never ends
When we run out of prospects, it’s time for next year’s list.
Actually, it ends at 50.

Some people are complaining about these things being too long (because they don't like the prospect talk)
and I’m sitting here wondering how in the world are we already at 37? It’s flown by for me and I like doing it.

to add in next rounds
N. Roberts and Bigley both outfielders. For Pitchers-Davis,Lobanov,Darnell,Parker Bargas.
Good picks
Maybe we throw Weller, Hirschfeld and Tippett at the wall again and see if they stick. I’ll be ready to vote for Nate Roberts after Ciurcina and Lanigan.
I went with Ortiz

Ortiz
I think I’ve voted for Ortiz for about 10-15 straight rounds.
Me too
Seems to be a little undervalued around these parts.
You, sir, are a mouthful.

I like Ortiz
I’m just skeptical about E-Town numbers, particularly power numbers.
