Since joining this process in the sixth round, Anthony Slama consistantly got 14 to 33 votes in the next ten rounds, then slowly building to today's selection as our Twenty-Third pick with 68 of 248 votes cast (27%). What is interesting is that he actually collected a third more votes (90) in yesterday's big round of voting. Luke Hughes, who joined the voting a round after Slama, was second for the first time with 48 votes. B. J. Hermsen and Scott Diamond tied for third with 34 votes. Will Hughes follow Slama's lead and win today's round?
Everyone received more than two percent so we will add only one player to the next round, Kane Holbrooks, who was eliminated in the eleventh round. Holbrooks began his year as Beloit's closer where he picked up nine saves with a 1.67 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 54.0 innings. He moved on to Ft. Myers where he was a starter, splitting six decisions with an excellent 2.27 ERA in 43.2 innings with 36 strikeouts. Holbrooks would move up another level at the end of the year, making one start in AA where he allowed three runs in 5.0 innings.
My tentative plans are to add Matt Bashore and Steve Singleton as the next pitcher and position player. As always, your comments about why you voted as you did and who you would like to see added to future rounds is important. Thanks!
