Stop the Presses, Giants might be willing to part with Tim Lineceum

Ok, this might be crazy given that Less Cowbell accused me of taking drugs in a recent fanshot comments section. However it might make sense to go after Lineceum for two years plus it makes Gardy's life a lot easier. Imagine the following pitching rotation for the Twins:

1. Tim Lineceum
2. Carl Pavano
3. Scott Baker
4. Francisco Liriano
5. Nick Blackburn

This deal works for the Twins because Liam Hendriks can spend 2012 in Triple A and he and Kyle Gibson can replace both Liriano and Pavano in the 2013 rotation. Since the Giants will want a power bat, I would send them Aaron Hicks and Danny Valencia.

A) who the hell are you giving up for Tim Fucking Lincecum, and

B) how are you planning on fitting him into the budget and still fielding a decent squad?

Lineup:

1. Span, CF
2. Revere, LF
3. Mauer, C
4. Parmelee, 1B
5. Benson, RF
6. Plouffe, SS
7. Hughes, 2B
8. Punto (we’re resigning him), 3B
9. Lincecum (can’t afford a DH).

Valencia, Morneau, Pavano, and Liriano (full circle!) gone in the Lincecum trade.

That leaves a rotation of:

1. Lincecum
2. Baker
3. Blackburn
4. Lincecum
5. Slowey
6. Duensing/Swarzak.

We might even be able to get C.J Wilson if we do it this way…

I think the plan is

we are going to trade our entire team for Lincecum, and then expect him to play all the positions… and like less cowbell said, ghost runners! lol

No, it is drugs.

But I honestly think that it wouldn’t take a full team to get Lineceum. Seriously, the Giants are looking for a few good batters, and I would be willing to part with Aaron Hicks and Danny Valencia if possible. I would also throw in Trevor Plouffe if possible, and I would give him a long term extension if needed. Translation, Tim Lineceum would be my big spend if it happened.

The Twins would have to give up half the organization to get him.

Believe it or not, even if teams are willing to trade away talent at his level, the price tag is usually way more than any sane GM should be willing to give up.
