Season Ticket Holder Frustrations
Hey there Twins fans - I wanted to post about my experience as a season ticket holder the last few years and see if anyone else has felt similar.
I've been a season ticket holder in the past (a few years in the 1990's) and every year so far at Target Field.
Does anyone else feel that they are being taken for granted? It seems like the Twins really don't care about me as a STH.
Most recent example is the "complimentary" tickets to TwinsFest 2012. I know I get a ticket for each seat I have, but like everything there is no dates or communication on when they will be available until the last minute. You would think they could have this down like clockwork by now. I receive a e-mail from the Twins telling me how I can buy tickets to the event. Perhaps a bit jumpy, but since I haven't received anything about when I will receive my free STH tickets to the event, I decide to call the "STH VIP Hotline", asking if they know when I will receive info about my free STH TwinsFest tickets. They have no idea and tell me "It should be coming in a couple of weeks". Well, since the event is at the end of January and this is almost mid-December I'd hope the info would be coming in a couple of weeks, but what can you do. The very next week I get the e-mail about the STH tickets to TwinsFest being available today (12/13), through the convoluted system of having to enter your information online, along with your credit card even if you do not plan on buying additional tickets - no doubt in place in hopes that you will buy more, especially if you are forced to enter that info already.
But none of this is new since Target Field, it's just frustrating. In the 90's you were mailed out your tickets no questions asked. The STH staff was informed when you were getting them, and you got them before you were informed about when the public could buy them. It was decent customer service.
What is new this year - is that you are forced to select "print them at home". Well, I don't have a printer. Even if I did, why is there no option to have the tickets mailed to me? Some people like to collect their stubs as memories of the event.
Again I call the STH VIP Hotline. A teenage, perhaps young 20 something fellow answers the phone with annoyance before I even say a word - I explain I just filled out the online form for my free STH TwinsFest tickets but there was only a print-at-home options, would it be possible to have my tickets mailed to me. "Uh, I think that is the only option for this service. You could try e-mailing a friend". What if I don't know anyone with a printer I asked - "Then you won't be able to take advantage of these tickets" I'm told.
Now I may be making a big deal of this, but this is poor customer service.
The Twins communicate how to buy tickets before I get any info about the tickets I'm entitled to, how I'm forced to give them my credit card and how they are saving money by not mailing the tickets out, the rude phone representative, all just really rubs me the wrong way.
And this is just the most recent and perhaps the most minor issue I have run into in the past 2, going on 3 years as a STH.
Normally when I call the STH VIP hotline with a question I'm directed to my "account representative" who never seems to be in, and never calls me back (Seat Relocation, Suite rental questions, etc). The moves by the organization - both major and minor - to save costs (Autograph party silently killed, not mailing out tickets). The poor communication. The list goes on.
This is just plain bad customer service. This isn't even touching the team performance last year or the odd off season moves so far, two other good reasons to vote with my dollar.
I love baseball and the Twins. It's my favorite entertainment. But I feel like they aren't really interested in keeping me as a customer.

Agreed with you
Customer Service could be better, but the reason why they asked for your information is because Customer Service needed to verify who you are as a fan/season ticket holder. As for printing your tickets, I would go to the nearest public library, they likely have a printer for you to use.

Agree on most points
Also a STH since 2009, so I only saw one year in the dome.
Almost every communication/event should be able to be on a calendar (there is one this year, don’t recall it having as much on it in past years), it’s frustrating because I coordinate with 6-7 of my friends and would be nice to know actual dates more than 3-4 days in advance when the Twins almost certainly know when they’ll do things, give or take a day (they can always say “dates subject to change” if something unforeseen happens). This is really frustrating, since it’s a lot of money they’re expecting to get, with very little consideration for the people paying…
I miss getting tickets delivered, but think its relatively minor. I could see them next year mailing them out for $2 handling or something (a new “added” perk for 2013!).
Also agree about the reps. My last rep was good, but got changed over to a new one last summer, for this year’s relocation/upgrade opportunity, my submissions got messed up, and it basically took 8-10 calls to the VIP line and my rep, leaving 4 or 5 messages before it got cleared up. It’s especially helpful when the VIP line forwards you onto your rep who doesn’t answer (I understand he’s probably busy, but it goes back to you can probably afford another full-time rep or three and improve your customer experience).
It comes down to supply and demand. As soon as TF stops selling out it’s STH full season equivalents, more reps will be hired, service should improve (slightly). With the on deck circle having a 3500-4000 person list, they can afford to cut corners on customer service, others will take your place.

No, I didn't spell Maurer wrong. But I do get asked if I'm related to Joe a lot.

It is...
Which is why for the most part, the only part of my whole comment that resonates right now is the last sentence, no STH should be complaining until the on deck circle is empty. I get tickets with 6-7 other people, and 2 of them have been in the on deck circle for 2 years as well.

“no STH should be complaining until the on deck circle is empty”
You’re kidding right? Just because there is demand doesn’t mean those who pay for the service in demand should be ok with bad service and cut backs.
It's a business...
Ultimately MLB is a service industry, they’re providing an experience. Assuming most people are okay with the level of service (I have sent suggestions to my reps on how to improve and in STH surveys), cutting back on customer service isn’t affecting most people’s experience at the game.
They can’t have terrible service, but they can cut back on service when their demand exceeds their capacity.

You would have been better off
complaining about last year’s product. Having to print out Twins Fest tix is a pretty small complaint.
Granted
My comments come from being in customer service and realizing that the customer is rarely right.
While I appreciate you telling me that I am rarely right based on your vast experience in customer service, you are missing the point of my post. I even say this is a very minor issue. It’s just the most recent of many others which are more significant.
I detailed this particular issue not only because it is the most recent, but it’s a good example of many of the poor moves the organization is making in regards to it’s STH service, even if the issue at hand is very minor.
My point is, their customer service has declined since the last time I was a STH (90’s) and is just bad in general, and I was curious if anyone felt the same. Which clearly they do.
"Clearly"
one commenter and Jessy S. The whole of Twins Territory clearly agrees with you.
I sort of did...
But I also see it from the business side and am not going to complain about relatively minuscule things in the grand scheme of STH benefits. The overriding benefit is getting season tickets, everything else is just a bonus and while I might grumble if something goes away, I’m not going to lose any sleep over it.

I understand completely what you are going through Steamy
For the most part, Customer service could be better, but the whole point of having season tickets is to enjoy some baseball or whatever other sport you enjoy. When comes to customer service, the Twins do try their very best. In this case, they likely thought that the Twinsfest Season Ticket Holders would have wanted to print their own tickets, but didn’t realize that some fans didn’t have printers. As a result, my advice to you remains to print your tickets at the nearest library. Still, if you do want to complain about bad customer service, here is the number for the executive office: (612) 659-3400.

Get rid of your season tickets or buy a freaking printer. Both of my suggestions would have fixed that problem for you.

Brady,
That would not have solved my problem.
The problem is poor customer service and bad communication, while cutting corners.
Get rid of your tickets, you won’t have to deal with customer service. Get a printer and you could have just printed to TwinsFest, and you wouldn’t have had to call customer service. Complaining about season ticket perks while people like me wait to be able to get season tickets hardly seems fair.

Life isn’t fair Brady.
Take me for example, I have to read your childish response to my post! Not fair in the slightest.
And complaining about how your free perks, that by no means the team is obligated to give to you, are inconvenient because of their noncommittal attitude isn’t childish?

Childish response
You’re the person who told customer service “What if I don’t know anyone with a printer?” and then complained about it on the internet. Give me a break. Of course you know someone with a printer.
You’re complaining that you had to enter a form online to get free TwinsFest tickets. What is the problem exactly? I suppose they would have had better customer service if they told you that they would mail you the tickets but there was a $9/ticket mailing fee.
Brady Eyestone is the one being chlidish
So what if expectations aren’t up to par for Steamy. If he wants tickets to Twinsfest delivered to him instead of printed out on a library printer, he should be able to get what he wants. At the same time, Steamy should know that attending Twinsfest isn’t the same as attending an actual baseball game. The biggest thing that could happen while he is there is seeing Joe Mauer getting arrested for drinking too much cow juice. The actual baseball game might be an historic night at the ballpark where our starter throws a perfect game, or a batter goes 5 for 5 in terms of home runs and has 15 rbi’s to boot.
I could go on and on, but if Steamy feels that his customer service experience is bad, then his customer service experience is bad. That 20-something customer service rep should have forwarded the call to somebody working to organize Twinsfest.

Single Game Tickets
Any idea when they go on sale?
Likely in Feburary
Home opener is April 9th which is a good excuse to get out and see Albert Pulios
