Twinkie Town 2012 Top 50...Round 5!
Fans continue to value Aaron Hicks potential, selecting him as our fourth best prospect with 39% (123) of 309 votes. Kyle Gibson was second with 50 votes, Joe Benson third (45), Chris Parmelee fourth (32) and Liam Hendriks fifth (19) in today's voting.
Both Manuel Soliman and Cole DeVries failed to get two percent of the votes and will be dropped from the next round. I will bring back three players who were dropped after the first two rounds, Angel Morales, Alex Wimmers and Adrian Salcedo.
Please continue to provide suggestions of players you would like to see included in the coming rounds.

i think we got the first 4 right as a community!!! Great job all!!!!
for #5 here Its a toughie between Benson, Hendriks, and Gibson. it’d be Gibson easily if he was already back and 100% from his surgery, without really knowing how he’ll end up post tommy John it makes it a tough 3 way vote here IMO
I went with Hendriks, but almost picked Benson, Gibson would be 7th for me i guess.

Yeah, I think TJ surgery is a big part of TINSTAAPP
Gibson is bubkiss to me until he starts performing post surgery.
That's not what it means
What it means is there are pitchers who can get people out and there are pitchers who can’t get people out. Pitchers don’t get much better with repetition, unlike batters. Either you have stuff or you don’t. “Projectable” doesn’t matter.
I think it also means that pitchers just blow up suddenly and without warning.
If that’s not part of what it means, it should be.
Partly true
I’m not sure TJ surgery is even a big deal anymore. It’s going to knock out a fringy guy like Joe Mays but a good pitcher will come back fine.
That is what it means.
Despite seeing TANSTAAPP for a decade now, I’ve never heard DJL’s interpretation before.
I went with Benson (again)
Levi Michael should be brought back pretty soon. He should be a top 10 prospect for us.
Michael
I view him and Dozier as the same type of player. Hope i am wrong about that

Not sure why
In most mocks of last years draft (one of the best in years), Michael wasn’t going to fall to us. Despite being a drafted as a junior, he’s only 20. John Sickels, who likes Dozier better than anyone else I’ve read, rates Michael #8 in our system (and Dozier #10).
I guess I haven’t read any thing to suggest that Micheal projects to a UI type. Of course, he’s so far away, he might never make it but I don’t understand the lack of enthusiasm over him.
agreed Michael should rank top 10 or so

I went with Benson, too.
Gibson can still be really good, but it’s tough to vote him in the top 5 when he’s going to miss all of 2012. For me, anyway.

Kind of agree
Actually if it wasn’t the Twins, I’d probably disagree. But, the Twins record with TJ surgery recovery is pretty poor. Hope I’m wrong though. Really, if you think he’ll come back strong and be MLB ready in 2013, no reason to vote him below guys like Sano, etc. that won’t be ready until then or later anyway, though, right?
Benson
His power potential speed and defense make him better than the rest

I went with Gibson as 5th
I’ll go with Benson as a close sixth, and Hendriks at seventh.

Kepler
Did his stock rise or fall this season?
He is still raw obviously, but I hope reaches his potential!

Stay the same, maybe dropped a little
Kepler is a long term project, in may be a few year until his numbers start matching his ability. Think Hughes timeline, but with a higher ceiling.
"I couldn't do that. Could you do that? Why can they do it? Who are those guys?"
Twinkie Town ranked him #9 last year
so he’d probably go a little lower. But I think he’s still a really intriguing prospect and he finished last season strong. After Benson/Gibson/Hendriks/Micheal he might be worth considering in that 10-15 range.
According to Kevin Goldstein, he actually outperformed expectations.
Not eye-catching numbers, but considering his background and extreme youth, pretty impressive apparently.
Voted Dozier
Feel he is the most consistent prospect
Went Benson again
I like Dozier as well. Parmalee, Wimmers, Morales, Michael, are considerations. And Hendriks.
Really considering Hermann in the top ten. After Gibson at 6, things might get real interesting.
Aaron Hicks has long survived near the top of lists thanks to his great tool set (and he has performed adequately.) Question: At what point do we start voting on Niko Goodrum? He has a great tool set, and towards the end of the E-Town season, he really turned on the offense. Just asking.
Herrmann is a backup catcher
I hope a backup catcher isn’t one of our top 10 prospects. That would mean the minors are thin on talent.
Scouts from the AFL don't think he is a backup.
…Herrmann was one of the top players this year in the AFL. In his third season with the Twins, he had made it to AA. He is a top defensive corner outfielder and catcher who hit .310 average in Ft. Myers before moving up to AA where he hit very well. Everyone points to what Hicks accomplished in the AFL as his coming out party, yet Herrmann performed much better on the same stage.
He's not as good as Wilson Ramos
I think Herrmann has a chance at a nice career but I don’t see him as a starting catcher. He’s already 23 and projects to be 25 when he debuts.
