Twinkie Town 2012 Top 50...Round 6!

Joe Benson has been holding a four to five vote lead all morning. With voting down to only a few votes an hour, I am going to move on to the next round. Thus, Benson takes the fifth spot in this year's poll with 105 votes (28%). Kyle Gibson was second (101) in the closest voting this year. Chris Parmelee was third with 55 votes, Liam Hendriks fourth (30) and Brian Dozier fifth with 28 votes. We now have our top five in the books, Miguel Sano, Eddie Rosario, Oswaldo Arcia, Aaron Hicks and Benson. What a change that is for the Twins as there isn't a single pitcher in our Top Five.

B. J. Hermsen just missed getting two percent and will be dropped from the next round. Added will be David Bromberg and Levi Michael. Bromberg is a two time Twins Pitcher of the Year and also the leader of all minor league baseball in strikeouts when at Beloit. He was pitching great last year at New Britain when he sustained a broken arm when hit by a line drive. After missing several months, he never got back to the level he was pitching at when injured. Michael is last year's top pick who played through several injuries while with UNC in the College World Series.

Please continue to provide names of those players you believe should be added to future rounds. Tommorrow is movie day, so I will be posting the next round early tommorrow afternoon.

Gibson

Obviously, his injury is a real shame…

Hendriks

Moves ahead of Gibson, the clear number 7 then. Parmelee is good, but come on.

+1

went w/ Hendriks

  1. # 4 starters still hold tremendous value, especially for Minn. ; after 2012 when all of Slowey, Pavano, Liriano will all likely be gone, and Duensing probably still in the BP..

2012 opening day could look like: #1SP Baker, 2SPFA?/Frankie, 3SP Hendriks, 4SP Blackburn, 5SP Gibson/ Wimmers/ Bromberg/ Lanigan/ other

How could Bromberg get more votes than Wimmers

You do realize that the Twins offered him to every other team and they took a pass, right?

I voted for Maximilian Kepler.

I would vote for Kyle Gibson, but I have a policy of not voting for players who are going to miss most/all or have missed most/all of a season.

thats not a bad vote.

He deserves some consideration here, for me

  1. Hendriks, #2 Gibson, #3 Levi Michael #4 -7 Salcedo, Dozier, Kepler, Wimmers

Will miss all of 2012...

…will be back in 2013, but how he does could be all over the place. Look back at Matt Bashore this year, pitched about 16 innings. Others have come back strong in their first.

Went with Hendriks

If Gibson didn’t have TJ, I might have picked him.

If

If he hadn't had TJ

He would have been up in the majors and probably in this year’s rotation.

Yeah, he'd be off the list, 'cause he would have started instead of Slowey

Agreed on that, but I wasn't thinking that way

I was thinking, he’s still up there but he’s missing all of next season so I’d rather go with someone else.

Liam

I went with Liam. I have personally met Liam, thru James Beresford (my family hosted James when he was 12 and we’ve kept in contact/visited since), and Liam is an extremly humble down to earth dude. So of course out of bias, I voted for Liam! I’m hoping the Twins keep him up with the big club for the whole season. Hoping James makes his way up as well! Although, visiting him in Ft. Meyers, Florida isn’t so damn terrible either!! lol

This being said, I’ve had a chance to see Liam, Angel, Hicks, and listen to games when Dozier was in Fort Meyers…..Out of that bunch, I think Angel has the most realistic upside. Dozier never impressed me, but the announcers were really high on him. Hicks has never impressed me. I think out of the 3 years or so I’ve been following James’s team (same team as Hicks every year), I’ve saw/heard/read of Hicks striking out more than anything else. The dude is a free swinging freak, and rarely makes contact. His defense is shitty as well. He has a great arm, I will give him that. However, his “awesome” catches are because he is late on reading the ball. This is coming from a former outfielder myself, so I pay attention to the little details…like breaking back instead of running in (unless you have a great lead), which should you turn with, where you throw the ball, etc. Hicks just doesn’t impress me and IDK why scouts rave about his “skills.”

I’m a newly converted Twins fan (obvious reasons above).
