Twinkie Town 2012 Top 50...Round 8!

With 31 percent of 351 votes (109), Chris Parmelee is the seventh ranked prospect in this year's poll. Liam Hendriks was second with 94 votes, Brian Dozier a distant third (43), Max Kepler fourth (39) and Levi Michael fifth with 20 votes.

With the last round completed, our top seven picks have been Miguel Sano, Eddie Rosario, Oswaldo Arcia, Aaron Hicks, Joe Benson, Kyle Gibson and Chris Parmelee.

David Bromberg failed to get two percent of the votes in his second time in the voting and will be removed from the next round. We will bring back the two high school players chosen by the Twins as sandwich picks in last summer's draft, Hudson Boyd and Travis Harrison. Boyd is a big starting pitcher, Harrison a power hitting third baseman.

This round will remain open until early afternoon on Monday. As usual, keep letting me know in the comments who you would like to see added to future rounds.

Me too

His best comparison is Kevin Slowey, but I think Hendriks will be better than him.

I have heard seth

Talk about how Hendricks has better breaking pitches. Slowey got by on fastball control but Hendricks can use his other pitches to get outs.

but i still voted for Salcedo

I accidentally voted for Herrmann...

would have voted for Hendriks. Herrmann is next to me (positional value and proximity to majors; I think Dozier is nothing more than Luke Hughes II; a ML utility player). Kepler I can’t see putting above Morales given how far he is from the majors and what a project he still is. Though I also have high hopes for him.

Herrmann is definitely next for me.

Dozier seem to be more of a true MI

compared to Hughes. Hughes is more of a corner IF,OF with some power. Looks like Dozier can play SS and hit for better AVG and runs better then Hughes. I went with Levi. He could move up to AAA by years end. I’m guessing he starts a FTM.

by b1 on Dec 18, 2011 9:15 AM EST up reply actions

ya, Levi's certainly not a bad choice...

he and Herrmann are very close for me.

I guess I’m just not high on Dozier at all; I don’t think he’ll ever be a ML starter.

R U Serious?

Dozier will be in the BL before Levi

by baseballlove on Dec 18, 2011 8:02 PM EST up reply actions

yes, he will...

but for me Levi’s going to be an above-average starter while Dozier will be a utility guy longterm. IMO. I see Levi as the next Jed Lowrie, but hopefully without the injury issues.

I'm torn

Just on upside, Michael is a better prospect. But Dozier has definitely outplayed his draft position. He could be the best Twins shortstop right now. But he’s close to his upside. In two years, I could see them together in the middle infield with Michael at short and Dozier at second. Positionally, you have to give the nod to Michael.

ya...

plus while of course Dozier is closer “now” I do think Michael will move very quickly. I actually see him starting for this team in late 2013.

by DJSkillz on Dec 19, 2011 12:28 AM EST up reply actions

The difference...

is to see how well Levi swings it.

by baseballlove on Dec 19, 2011 8:36 PM EST up reply actions

Dozier can actually play SS

Hughes has always been considered iffy in the infield.

I voted Stuifbergen

I never heard of him and I think his last name may be Dutch, so he has that going for him too.

i went hendriks based on how close he is

3 at max ceiling good 4-5 probably, I considered Dozier as well he has really played well watch out mid season if Casilla cant be consistent.

first-worst-first?

I'd love to see Dozier move straight to the Bigs.

But, thats not the Twins way. “He needs more seasoning” Like he’s a steamed veggie.

I'd say somewhere between Slowey and Radke

Tapani is a good comp.

Michael

Levi is getting waaaaay too little love. Guy was a first round pick for a reason.

and was projected higher than we picked him...

the only reason he slipped was because he was playing hurt last year. he also was young for his college year.

by DJSkillz on Dec 19, 2011 1:01 AM EST up reply actions

agreed, i'm a big fan

not all first round picks are created equal, but i think he’ll be a solid average guy for quite a while

I think it's because...

… he doesn’t have any super-high upside ceiling that gets people excited. That’s silly though, since he is a very well developed SS or 2B with definite on base skills who won’t take too long to be ready. How is that not relatively valuable? Certainly more valuable than Chris Parmalee, who seems to have not developed in a significant way in years.

I see Parmelee as having as much

Power as Kuble and hitting for a higher Avg. That his upside.

by b1 on Dec 19, 2011 8:58 AM EST up reply actions

and that's pretty damn good upside...

kubel’s a hell of a player when healthy (see: 2009 and the beginning of 2011).
