"I was not a happy person last year. I was angry. I was frustrated, ultimately because I couldn't get on the field."
"What surprised me a lot was a couple things out there were questioning my work ethic. That kind of bugged me a little bit." -Joe Mauer

Whoa, meta.
Fixed, I think, except it took away the blue color.

Reminds me of something Harrison Ford said....
Yes, Harrison Ford the actor. He said he likes working with directors who just came off a terrible flop. They approach their next picture with a sense of renewal, like they want to make a fresh start, and that they have something to prove.
I hope Mauer takes that approach and proves why he’s a 3-time batting champion.

Yes, Joe has emotions too!
A Quick Guide to the Many Faces of Joe Mauer:
Happy

Angry

Deep, deep sadness

In pain from itchy scalp
Disappointed with others

In this case, that it’s not milk.
Disappointed with himself

“Gosh, that did not go as well as I had hoped.”

You need to smile more often then.
Maybe try some stretches to loosen up first.

Joe Mauer starts dating Bar Refaeli and creates a dynomo couple called JoBa. JoBa uses their superpower to turn Mauer into a new man and he starts mashing the ball. Bar brings her model friends to the Twins game and miraculously cures Morneau concussion issues. Joe and Justin combine for 62 HR and 203 RBI as the Twins ride the momentum of JoBa.
So yes, she is the key to the Twins season.

It went way beyond that
I agree that’s how it started. But as recently as October, Reusse was re-inforcing that bullshit.
"You're thinking too much. Just have fun." -- Bennie "The Jet" Rodriguez in Sandlot
I don't take everything Reusse says seriously.
He made some fair arguments when he gave Mauer the runner-up title in his Turkey of the Year awards. But Reusse’s one of the more sarcastic sports writers out there. Jim Souhan, on the other hand, is a total idiot who loves to find something to criticize Joe about. Souhan should simply stop writing about baseball and its players and instead just focus on basketball and hockey.
