In our final preliminary round, Rory Rhodes collected 28 of the 136 votes to put himself into contention for the last spot in this year's poll.
The final round will be between Spencer Steedley, Ben Tootle, Danny Lehmann and Rhodes. Steedley may have been the organization's top left handed reliever in the upper levels prior to last year's injury. Will he return to form this year? Tootle is a hard throwing short reliever who has been limited to only a few innings since being drafted in the third round of the 2009 draft. Lehmann is a solid catcher who has steadily moved up the organizational ladder to New Britain and Rochester. All indications are that he is a candidate for that third catcher's slot who plays at Rochester and is available if needed in Minnesota. Rhodes is an exciting young prospect who has a lot of power potential. After putting up very good numbers last year in the Gulf Coast League as an eighteen year old, he hit five home runs in the Australian Baseball League this winter.
Voting for this final round will remain open through 3pm, Tuesday, February 22nd. As we wrap up this year's Twinkie Town Top 50, I would appreciate your comments on what improvements we should consider to the process for next year. I hope you all have enjoyed this as much as I have and thanks for participating.
