This is typical erratic Liriano, this is why he is not a bonafide "Ace" as people like to refer to him. He can pitch, but he doesn't seem to have it together mentally. "Aces" make a bad pitch and move on, Liriano makes a bad pitch and then follows it up with several more.

"Liriano is the best pitcher the MN Twins have, regardless of what other random users on the internet say."
“Also, judging Spring Training starts as actual talent evaluation is slightly ridiculous.”

My next fanshot
will pretend to link to a strib comment but actually will link to my own fanshot. It will make the front page and garner thousands of comments.
Ooh, strib comments can be even more amusing than Yahoo! comments.
I anxiously await your post.

Huh
I thought the FAQ had you listed as “Twinkie Town Goddess” but hey, whatever you prefer.
The only stat that counts is W

Wow
It’s amazing how everyone freaks out over a completely meaningless spring training game.
He’s got some work to do, but who doesn’t this time of year?

Liriano should be perfect always
If only he weren't so lazy and mentally weak! Curse his low moral fiber!
This was a triumph

I'll see your Yahoo comment, and raise you a Strib comment and an ESPN comment
Yeah, but what are the Vikings going to do for QB? That’s a much more pressing concern than what the Twins do with either Slowey or Liriano. In any case, neither one of them is going anywhere.

No Way. The only team that Liriano helps the Yanks beat is the Sox. That is 19 games of which he pitches ?? Give our guys a chance. Liriano was Ivan four or five years ago. Look at the Sox. Lester and Buckholts are their One and Two. Beckett and Lackey are likely to fall three four. Young arms that pound the strike zone are better than 27 year olds that rely on sliders that fall out of the strike zone. Let him go elsewhere and start following what the Sox are doing. We did the same types of things the Sox are doing back in 1996-2000. This strategy did not turn out too badly.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who couldn't figure that out

Eh, I can't say I really disagree with part of that statement
I’m not basing it off of spring training but in 2009 he had a lot of “I look like I’m going to cry on the mound” moments. That improved greatly in 2010, but still happened every once and awhile. Even now in spring training, he’s getting too excited and rushing, trying to blow a pitch by batters. It is what is making him pitch badly right now.
When things go wrong, he doesn’t seem to recompose himself. Mauer walks out there a lot to settle him down, but a lot of the times it doesn’t work. I feel like Mauer made a lot of trips to the mound late last year.
I think with Liriano, he’s just not used to sucking. He’s always been really talented and would dominate people. 2008 and 2009 were rough for him because he wasn’t dominating any more. He actually had to learn how to pitch rather than just throw the ball as hard as he could. Throwing the ball as hard as he can now leads to bad pitch location and bad innings.
I do agree that he’s not mentally tough yet. He’s not as bad as he used to be, but he’s still not where he needs to be in order to be an ace. The talent is there though.

I have to agree with that too.
Liriano is horribly streaky. When it goes well, it goes amazing. When anything goes wrong, get the bullpen ready, because there’s going to be crooked numbers coming.
