Joe Mauer hospitalized for flu-like symptoms

According to 1500ESPN, Joe Mauer was admitted to a Tampa hospital late Thursday evening with "flu-like symptoms." He was checked out for possible appendicitis after complaining of stomach pains. Mauer left the hospital sometime between 3:30 and 4:00 this morning. Preliminary tests came back okay but his scheduled trip to Baltimore has been postponed until next week, when the team goes there to play the Orioles. Mauer has been advised not to travel for the time being.
