|2011 - Daniel Hudson||4-5||9||9||0||0||0||0||58.0||58||27||26||2||18||54||4.03||1.31|
Hudson has a lot working in his favor today. The promising 24-year old right-hander has struck out 17 batters over his last three starts, posting a 1.74 ERA in that stretch. He's riding a hot streak, and so are the Diamondbacks. In his career he's 0-1 with four strikeouts and an equally impressive 1.80 ERA against the Twins.
The former White Sox prospect has already accumulated 1.8 WAR this season, putting him on pace for a 5+ season. He offers a low to mid-90s fastball, a quick slider around 86 and a good changeup in the mid 80s. He used to throw a curveball, but pitchfx hasn't logged one yet in 2011. Over the last two seasons battings have posted a .125 and .180 BABIP on his slider and changeup respectively. Against lefties however, he won't deal that breaking ball quite so often.
|2011 - Francisco Liriano||3-5||8||8||1||1||0||0||42.2||33||29||29||5||28||30||6.12||1.43|
Like Hudson, Liriano is also riding something of a hot streak. Sort of. He's sandwiched a disappointing three-inning outing against the Tigers with his no-hitter and an even more impressive performance his last time out: 9 strikeouts, 3 hits, 1 run in 7 innings.
At some point I'd like to think Liriano will find some level of consistency, much like the Twins as a club, at which point he'll click on all cylinders again. Hopefully he can put together two exceptionally strong performances in a row with a strong afternoon today.
