I know it sounds crazy to entertain the possibility of trading M Cuddyer, but if you can get a great return for him, I think the Twins would be crazy not to trade him. If you can get an established starter and a good young pitching prospect for him, it would be the ultimate (sell high). Cuddyer will command in the 11-16M a year on the open market and the Twins can't afford that. Will he give them a (hometown discount). He might, but it still is too much for the Twins. I say trade Cuddyer at the peak of his value, trade Liriano to the Rangers for rookie ss Profar because we have NO MIDDLE INFIELD PROSPECTS in our organization and let the season finish the way its going too. Build for next year, I know it might be giving up on this season, but I want to see everybody's reaction to maybe doing the right thing for the future. If you consider being seller's at the deadline, we have a lot of players who could be traded other than Cuddyer or Liriano. Young, Nathan, Capps, Thome, Kubel, Slowey. It will be interesting to see what the Twins will do. I say trade for young cost-controlled players and build around Mauer, Morneau, Valencia, Revere, Span, Baker, etc. In my honest opinion I think the Twins will try and add, and win the division this year. It should be interesting.
