Per ESPN's Jason Stark
It's been so long since we were actually sellers, it would have honestly been interesting to see what kind of haul we could have gotten for guys like Kubel, Cuddyer and others...
Solid Prospects ARE making their way up through the Twins system. One huge factor last year identify the void of any top tier prospect talent though, were the miserable seasons both Rochester and New Brittain endured. Things have gotten better this year with New Brittain seeing a good influx and playing respectably above .500. However, Rochester still has a void of any top tier guys, with the possible exception of Gibson, and has performed terribly yet again this year (yes I know a good deal of that has had to do with all the call-ups to the majors).
Anyways my point is that yes, the Twins certainly still have a decent enough chance in a weak division and anything can happen once you make the playoffs yadda yadda. Personally though, I was kind of hoping we'd fall far enough out to become mild sellers at the deadline. There is certainly a market for our outfielders and the opportunity is there to really make a strong 2012 team. My 2 big things where I have trouble taking the Twins seriously on making a run. 1. Having a healthy and productive M&M boys 2. Having two top-tier pitchers. Liriano and Baker may have that opportunity next year, but probably not this year.
