Domo Arigato, Mr. Thome!
Thome put on waivers. I assume he won't make it to the Phillies, but someone on the comments at MLBTR suggests he could still get there if he refuses his assignment? In any event, I hope he lands someplace that will give him a shot to win!

Kubel also placed on waivers
not unexpected. Move along, nothing really to see here as of yet.
Haha
Me too. I just deleted mine a couple minutes ago.
I just posted one so I could delete it too.

Kevin Slowey posted one and deleted it before all of you

I hope he doesn't
I like watching him play for the Twins, regardless of whether they’re in contention (although I agree that Cleveland would be my first choice if he is traded).

The Twins should find a place for Thome
He deserves a shot at the postseason or at least a homecoming in Cleveland. If they can get anything in return they need to make it happen.
Odd publicity
Are waivers usually made public? Usually, we don’t hear about a player being placed on waivers until a trade goes through. I’m surprised this was such a big deal, and that there was such surprise expressed in the articles discussing it – I saw an article on my Yahoo Twins feed that described it as “surprising”, although they also described Jim Thome as an “outfielder and designated hitter”, so it likely wasn’t the best source. The only thing that surprised me about Kubel and Thome being put on waivers was that it took this long for it to happen.

The later it happens the less likely someone will get claimed
For someone like Delmon you run him through early so there are more suitors. With other players they should wait until the last minute to make sure only a contender will claim/block.
Oh dear - sounds like the White Sox might have won the claim?
I guess at least he’d be close to home? Oy.
