Jim Thome Trade Completed
And the player to be named later in the Thome deal is... Salmon P. Chase, the guy who appears on the $10,000 bill. The Twins got two of him to complete the deal for Thome.

I guess it beats the nice dinner they got for Dave Winfield.

Plus the $600,000 in salary Cleveland had to pay
$20,000 is the waiver fee. Overall they get to avoid about $500k in salary obligations for 2011 ($600k-$70k paid to Parmelee). Trading Delmon saved them $1M.
Yuck
Glad we did the right thing by getting Thome to a “contender” so we could get back a marginal prospect for depth. Oh wait…Target Field would be a more attractive destination if the forecast were, “chilly with a chance of taters.”
I guess it makes sense not to add a minor league player.
The Twins could have a lot of draft picks next year to fill out the rosters.
$20000?
Joe Mauer Makes that after:
0.02 Homeruns
0.12 Games
0.17 Hits
0.08 RBIs
Of course these numbers are different this year

As Gleeman pointed out the other day....
the Twins got about $140M of value for Mauer over the last 7 years while paying him around $40M total. So quit your bitching.
Mauer is worth every penny of his contract and then some. One injury-plagued year doesn’t change that.
Can you tell me where you found the article stating that??
I’m looking for cannon fodder for the Mauer haters, as I hear it alot living outta state.

Pray tell
What does Mauer’s previous salary have to do with anything?
What a stupid argument. “I got my previous house below market, so I should be happy I paid 4 times what it’s worth for my current house?”
No.
You never owned the house in the first place. You were renting the house, and the rent control laws just went out of effect. Now you have to pay market price if you want to stay in your beloved home.

exactly...
it also points to the fact that it’s much more likely that the “real” Joe Mauer is the one we’ve seen for the last 7 years (especially now that he’s in his prime years) than this ONE injury-plagued, poor luck year. The hate and detest for Joe being hurt is unbelievable this year. He didn’t suddenly become some panzy or primadonna or whatever other BS is thrown out there by the idiotic masses this year.
