Twinkie Town 2012 Top 50...Round 30!
The Twenty-Ninth spot in this year's poll went to one of the organization's most promising relievers, Tyler Robertson. Robertson had 41 of 173 votes (23%). Scott Diamond was second (28), Terry Doyle third (19), Andrew Albers fourth (17) and Matt Summers fifth with 15 votes.
Added to the next round will be a young man who has consistantly been one of the top hitters at every level, Anderson Hidalgo. This past season, Hidalgo led all hitters who had been at Ft. Myers the entire year with a .274 average in 347 at bats. The previous year, he was one of the top hitters in the midwest league with a .316 average. He hit .291 average at Elizabethton in 2009 and .364 average in the Gulf Coast League a year earlier. He doesn't have a lot of power, yet, hit a total of 47 doubles the last two years at Beloit and Ft. Myers.
This round will remain open through noon, Monday, January 16th. Please continue to let me know who you would like to see added.
[I picked up a bad cold while traveling last week. Will skip this week's minor league report. Next week I will recap the nearly 30 pitchers who have a chance to make the Rochester pitching staff[

Onto Summers
He could move really fast, and rise in these rankings faster than any other Twins prospect. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him at as a solid starter at AA by the end of 2012.

The fact that neither Nate Roberts or Matthew Summers is on this list yet
almost invalidates it for me.

Nah
Its fan voting so a lot is based on name recognition. Not many people have the desire to scour A ball box scores. Make your case for the guy and that is the best you can do.

What about Matt Bashore?
Maybe not quite yet, but I think I like him a bit better than a few guys on the current voting list.
He should be added to the poll, imho

Looks like Alberts and Summers
might have some upside. Doyle looks solid, just advanced to slowly. At this point the only field players that interest me are Grimes, Rhodes,Roberts,Ortiz and Rams.
I'd take Rams over Hidalgo or Perez
Position players for me are probably Roberts, Rams, Grimes, Ortiz
Lance Ray should get a look. Second in the organization with doubles at 34 and third in RBIS at 74. Also made MiLB,com organization Allstar team.
I like Ray and Perez but
Their to old to be at FTM. Ray might not be able to advance with the top outfielder ahead of him and Hidalgo is younger and ahead of Perez.

Ray is one month younger than Hicks
Seriously, age is an important factor but applying these “hard and fast rules” about age and level is really, really stupid

This is why I mentioned Hicks,Arcia,Morales
as a log jam Ray must pass. Lots of good outfielders end up like Martin, lots of good infielders end up like Singleton. At this point its who will the Twins give a chance to and move then up. Singleton never got that chance, Martin doesn’t get invite to S.T. but the Dink does? 1B could be Rays ticket not RF.
Diamond? Really?
I wouldn’t have him in the top 40. He’s already at his upside, which is as a mediocre AAAA pitcher.

There are a few high-upside guys left
Summers is an obvious choice here. Williams also should be rated higher.
