Oswalt's price now $8million
Who would you rather have: Matt Capps and Jason Marquis, or Roy Oswalt?
Here are a few reasons the Twins should go a bit over their arbitrary $100m cap for this year and sign Oswalt. He can reestablish his value in a pitchers park (he's only played in Houston and Philly, two notorious hitters parks), and if the Twins are out of it, he might be flippable for some prospects at the deadline. If they keep him all year, he might yield a draft pick. If he does well all year, given their track record, they might keep him (think Pavano). Lots of good possibilities for a cheap price and a short-term commitment.

I'd be all over this
But I’m guessing the asking price is still a bit high for management’s liking. If Mauer and Morneau are healthy, then this is the type of signing you make as Oswalt will likely be an impact arm in a rotation that could desparately use one. That and it sends Blackburn to the pen.

Don't forget the draft pick the Twins gave up for re-signing Capps.
Capps and Marquis, or Oswalt and a mid-50’s draft pick.

You forgot another 2 reason why this signing would be great
1) The Twins have a terrible pitching staff and have done nothing to make it better.
2) Vikings fans will threaten bodily harm when Stadium opponents use the Twins as proof positive that is stupid for a community to build stadiums so owners can line their pockets and not reinvest in the team.
Come to think of it
Who’s a better bet this year….Pavano at $8.5m or Oswalt at $8m?

Good Point
I’d really like to see how this pans out through the course of the season. I find us a little near-sighted when it comes to Pavano and his comparable worth since he is a cult hit here among TT.

I'd rather have Oswalt
I think his injury last year was overblown. He could easily slide into the #1 spot, with Baker, Pavano, Liriano and Marquis behind, in that order.

If you want to put any stock into it...
Lindsey Guentzel, who had some sources with the Cuddyer news, tweeted this last night.
Good source says Twins kicking tires on a 2 year deal with Oswalt. That would make this quiet off-season worth it.
Update on Twins & Oswalt: Overlapping Pavano’s deal/role, but Oswalt’s price is dropping. Expect news soon, my source says.
been seriously doubting it
but damn would it be nice to see I cant find anything except her saying it. The front office did say they could expand payroll for the right player not getting my hopes up but I would be happy.
first-worst-first?

I posted this with NO expectations the Twins would sign him
Just to gripe.
Now you’re going and getting my hopes up. I would suddenly love this off-season if they added Oswalt.

That's funny
Let’s hope Roy reads your post and is like “i should pitch in a pitcher’s ballpark” plus i could feel like “a #1 pitcher” again. A truly compelling arguement.
MN is a good place to play
I am sure playing with Joe Mauer is a draw too, as well as Morneau to a lesser degree. Target Field is a nice draw, as well. Gardy seems like a manager players love to play for too.
Oswalt has sort of a bulldog mentality/reputation. Would really love handing him the Pavano contract—noting that Pavano and his contract are gone next year.
