HELP: Coming to Cubs-Twins series in June....
3 guys in their late 30s who like beer, baseball, and dirty women are coming to town in June for the Cubs/Twins series. (We make a road trip every year, and this is our chance to finally get to Minneapolis. We've heard good things).
What area of downtown should I target for a hotel where we can walk to the ballpark, bars, etc?
We're too old for nightclubs, but are there any good sport bars that are lively after the games?
I appreciate any knowledge. And please just let us win one game. We're going to stink this year.

Can't help with hotels
Hubert’s, Roy Smalley’s, Glueks for bars.
Actually, right across the street from Target Field, is the Graves 601 Hotel. It’s right next to a decent Irish pub and as far as food goes there is Smalley’s 87 Club right there as well.

If you want to sleep near the stadium
Most hotels downtown will do but are not cheap. If on a budget get a hotel on the southside of mall of america and take the light rail in. There are all kinds of sports bars near the stadium.

Agree with clutterheart
If you want to have a downtown hotel, go for it, but I would go for some lodging near the Mall of America. The reason is because you can go check out the mall in between games. The light rail itself will take you up to Target Field and it is the last stop on that line. If you have the chance to visit the Mall while in the Twin Cities, do it.
However, we will sweep the Cubs, sorry :)
I'm a proud fan of the Minnesota Twins and Dallas Cowboys!

I would like to see Dallas vs the Giants on Thanksgiving, Make it happen NFL!
Any hotel in downtown Minneapolis will be within walking distance
the Hilton is pretty popular but a bit of a longer walk than Graves 601…..plenty of bars right around the stadium too. you’ll be fine!!

For the "dirty women"
Just walk north of the stadium to Washington Ave. Of course, most sex workers are abused and mistreated, so one has to forget about that to have a good time, but this doesn’t seem to bother most patrons.
Assuming you’re not that sleazy, I’d suggest the airport/MOA places named above, or the Holiday Inn on 225 South 11th Street. It’s close to the light rail, it’s reasonably cheap, and the breakfast is OK. Most bars/restaurants are pretty lively after Twins games. If there’s a crowd in the outside seating area, it’s more of a upscale social setting. If there’s not, it’s a place with big HDTVs and servers who will let you get stupid drunk if you tip well and don’t make a nuisance of yourself. Avoid actually visiting the Mall Of America like you would a case of the plague, unless you plan to wander it high on hallucinogens. Free Steve Bartman!

Yeah, Target Field happens to be in the adult entertainment district
So there’s sports bars and titty bars all over.

It's always kinda funny
To watch parents walking back from the game, kids in tow, in front of SexxWorld. There’s an older, wheelchair-bound ladies’ man I go to games with a few times a year, and I’m always tempted to take him into one of those adult joints. But he’d probably have a heart attack and I wouldn’t want to explain that to his 100-year-old mom.
