Reasons the Twins Thought Kevin Slowey Had a Bad Attitude
A great story posted over at Let's Go Tribe

Hahaha, nice.
Except I think most Minnesotans think Fargo is hilarious, not insulting.

God
They know a lot about the twins and MN.
I am not even sure who the pitching coaxh is for the indians..

Indians have great PC stories:
Current one is Scott Radinsky, who has sung in punk bands for years, even when he was a pitcher.
Before him (last season) it was Tim Belcher, who Chan Ho Park tried to dropkick during a game.
Wow! He was in Ten Foot Pole!
A band I’ve heard of! It looks like Pulley is still active too. Like a real life Ricky Vaughn.

that is awesome!
i’ll add more real reasons:
#1; he’s a smart guy, and gardy is an idiot; jealous.
#2; the twins love bashing guys in the media for no apparent reason, and most of the twins’ beat reporters are stupid, homers, and spiteful.
#3; the twins are idiots.
Why the hell are you a Twins fan?
EVERYTHING they do is stupid to you.

WTF
Have we entered the “love it or leave it” stage of the Twins Fandom now?

not at all...
I love tons of things they do. But not a lot lately, and moves like this especially.
Sorry that I’m not a “happy” Twins fan with a team with a $100M payroll and a bunch of elite talent that lost 99 games last year. I’d argue our team has more talent on it than most of our teams over the years; yet we’re not succeeding. I think we can be better than we are. If that makes me a bad fan somehow, then so be it. I’d rather be that than one of the sheeple.
Posting the same "_____ is stupid" comment over and over again looks whiny and got old.
And the lack of any proper capitalizations reminds me of this guy:

lack of proper capitalizations?
really? it’s a blog; do we really need to be that formal?
you seriously see a parallel between the delicious ironic truth captured by that picture (BEST FANS IN BASEBALL, btw!)...
and a guy not bothering to capitalize stuff in a message board post?
If Ron Gardenhire weren’t the manager of the Minnesota Twins or in any other way in the public eye and you heard him speak, I find it difficult to believe you’d find yourself thinking “this guy sounds pretty smart”. Because he transparently ISN’T. Even if he made great, sabr-sound decisions and didn’t doghouse people or do any of other crap that drives me nuts – in other words, even if I LIKED him as a manager – he STILL would be pretty obviously not-too-bright given the manner and substance of his spoken communication, to which we’ve been subjected for years.
Go listen to the Clint Hurdle interview up on the rumbunter podcast. Now, I take MASSIVE issue with Hurdle’s in-game tactics as the Pirates skipper – he loves the sac bunt more than Gardenhire – but it’s immediately apparent when you listen to the guy speak extemporaneously that he’s a reasonably intelligent man. With years of Gardenhire speaking extemporaneously under my belt, the contrast between the two’s apparent intellects is glaring and unavoidable.

Yes I do see a parallel there.
One guy with a sign saying “Get a brain (because you’re stupid)” while misspelling “morons,” appears very similar to a guy posting, “_____is an idiot” repeatedly and not capitalizing anything while doing so. Nobody’s perfect, but the irony is still there. Sorry.
As for Gardenhire, you’re entitled to your opinion, but we disagree.

Please.
It’s informality, not failure of gray matter.
Do you seriously believe someone who knows and cares nothing about baseball, who has no predispositions due to reverence for his status would listen to a random Gardenhire interview and conclude “He sounds like a pretty intelligent man?”
by tobynotjason on Jan 28, 2012 2:11 AM EST up reply actions
Why? Because he's from OK and has a bit of a southern drawl?
You don’t win MOY, or stay on top of your division as long as the Twins did, by being “obviously not-too-bright.” Again, you’re entitled to your opinion, but we disagree.

You're right. He did it because he had sufficient talent...
to be in a position to top a mediocre division.
My comments re: the style and substance of Gardenhire’s verbal communications has NOTHING to do with his drawl and everything to do with imprecision, incoherence, laughable over-reliance on cliche and standard language… There is simply nothing about the way the man speaks that conveys creativity, appreciation for nuance, analytical acumen, etc. In short, nothing that conveys above average intelligence. Few geniuses come across as dullards.

I went to college and law school at two prestigious academic institutions...
have won numerous academic awards throughout my life, am willing to put my standardized test scores up against just about anyone on this site, etc….
It’s a freaking Twins forum. When I do a full post for the site (as I’ve done often) I will be sure to use correct grammar/capitalization/etc. When I make a 5 second long fan post I will not take my sweet time to be perfect just to please you. Nor would I expect anyone else to. This is an informal forum where we come to have fun and discuss Twins baseball and other topics; nothing more, nothing less.
So you disagree with me on Gardy; great; that’s your prerogative. Many of us do not share your view of him, as we’ve pretty much all expounded on in detail over the years on this site.
So then you can understand why all your "______ is an idiot" comments
could look like the StL fan’s cardboard sign to someone else then, right?
For the record, I don’t think you’re an “idiot.” I don’t agree with everything you say, but I also don’t agree with everything Gardenhire does, or everything the Twins’ FO does, but I don’t think they’re “idiots” either.

it's a quick/easy figure of speech/post...
just like “not capitalizing” everything on a message board. you should know that.
obviously i don’t think gardenhire and terry ryan are total “idiots” but I also question their judgment/analysis on players a LOT. there are literally dozens of great examples over even just the last couple of years. our organization does not seem to value players properly, and it shows; it’s a big reason why we’re a team that lost 99 games last year, despite some great resources. that is all.
people need to not take these message boards so seriously and have some fun.
Gardenhire thought "Slowey" was a reference to his fastball speed.
by diehardtwinsfan on Jan 26, 2012 12:48 PM EST reply actions
His nickname was never "fasty"
If anything, he was sneaky fast.
News flash: The real reason the Twins got rid of him is he’s done. His wrist will not allow him to throw anything with a wrinkle. A 92-mph straight fastball will not get it done no matter how good your control is.
