I just posted it on this site for a different opinion, but what are you going to do. The national media simply writes us off again and again. That is until, they are forced to say, where the heck did they (the Twins) come from. They did that in 2001, 02, 06, and 09. Mark my words, they will say that again in 2012.

However, I will give Jeff Passan credit for saying that the team depends on the health of Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau to be contenders this season.

Giving credit to Passan for saying the team needs Mauer and Morneau is like giving someone credit for saying human beings need oxygen.

But

Human beings need a lot more than just oxygen.

They need water and good food as well.

On this team, Mauer and Morneau are the oxygen because they are supposed to put up gaudy numbers. The water is our defense, and food is our pitching staff, both the starters and bullpen.

It should be self explanatory

For example, human beings need more than just oxygen. They need food and water to survive as well. That is basic life science.

In the same way Mauer and Morneau can provide the offense, but to survive as a team, we need more components like a pitcher, outfield and basemen other than Morneau. Just like a human being can’t survive without food or water, a team can’t survive without pitching and defense.

Oh my God. Do you have to try to improve every thing that everybody says? Was my comment on Mauer and Morneau not clear enough? Was it so veiled that you JUST HAD to try to improve it?

My comment that Passan’s comment about needing Mauer and Morneau is so ridiculously, and blatantly obvious, that saying

doesn’t mean anything. So, just stop.
