Detroit vs AL Central, Game 3 Recap; Defense Matters
Baseball is a team game, but the play of one player can sometimes change everything. That was evident in Game 2 of this series when Delmon Young committed one error and was close to committing two more in a loss to the AL Central. As the result, he was the DH in Saturday's game as the series switched to Target Field in Minneapolis.
In a welcome change of pace, the game wasn't decided before the crowd had a chance to settle down. Credit that to the fine pitching performances delivered by White Sox pitcher Gavin Floyd and Doug Fister of the Tigers. Neither of them allowed a run through six innings. For Floyd, the performance was not one of his best performances, but none of his worst either. Facing the powerhouse Detroit lineup, Floyd managed to spread only one walk and four hits through his seven innings of work before giving away to the AL Central bullpen.
Fister was much better. Through his seven innings of work, he managed to give up only two hits and a walk with five strikeouts. (Floyd had eight K's.) In Fact, he had a no-hitter through six and a third of an inning with the only blemish being a walk to Grady Sizemore in the 2nd in the attempt to show the Cleveland Indians who is boss. Then Shin Soo Choo broke up the no-hitter with a single to right center.
But, the Tigers forgot who plays at Target. That would be the Minnesota Twins, and Catcher Joe Mauer. Batting for the American League Central, he delivered the only run of the game by crushing a home run toward right center in the bottom of the 7th inning. This result ensured that Floyd would get the win.
Royals closer Joakim Soria pitched a perfect 9th for the save.
Studs
Mauer with the only Run of the game
Miguel Cabrera with a great play to rob Grady Sizemore of a double in the 5th

Wait a second.
How is 7 IP with 1 BB, 2 hits, and 5 Ks “much better” than 7 IP with 1 BB, 4 hits, and 8 Ks?

Leyland must have Delmon batting 2nd because of his speed on the bases.
*It would be pretty hard to forget who plays at TF, the TC logo is everywhere, must be the road games with no breaks in between. Fatigue was bound to set in.
*You must really hate BInge, out for 2 months in a 5 day series.
*Also, Al Alburquerque’s real name is Quarko Quartzite and he’s 29.

I'm happy you are so enthusiastic about Twins baseball
But does the lack of actual things to talk about really necessitate you to post your – excuse my language – brain farts?

AL Central is up 2-1
He’s got Rick “Over the Hill” Porcello pitching tomorrow. This series is all but over.

Very Sad.
I feel dumber for having read these posts. I wish that I could un-see them. I also fear that other sites might think that Jessy S is actually representative of TT (cringe). May God have mercy on us all.

I live in Montana
therefore, I have about as much use for staying on top of internet memes or other cultural relevancies, as I do sheep condoms 4g wireless devices (assuming I even know what a 4g wireless device is – which I don’t).
twinsgirl, on the other hand, has no excuse.
