Morneau-no one is saying too much

For a couple of years Justin Morneau was the engine in the sports car, a powerhouse 444 that worked with a rock solid transmission in his good friend Joe Mauer. We stood , we cheered we looked to the future with great anticipation to see how many MVPs this guy would win. Now 2 short years later the MN Twins fan base is wondering what Justin Morneau will show-up or if he will at all. History is not on his side, the concussions, the injuries they have all clearly taken their toll. Only his youth (also fleeting )is on his side. The interesting thing is in paradox to every other story out there about the Twins- no one is saying to much. Sure there are sportswriters who talk about the need for Morneau to be great again for the Twins to be successful- but take for instance Jim Souhan's column on Sunday - He tore Mauer to shreds- but there were few if any words concerning Morneau in the paper except that he was the #1 need of the Twins for a great 2012.

The silence in the room is deafning..Is the lack of true attention because we are all afraid of what we will see. Is it that many of us saw the concussion issue as a little bit of a Pansy issue that Morneau over-played. That the rumors of Morneau's willingness to sit and the rumors about that his discussions with Mr Koskie may have wrecked him even worse might even be 100% true. Now I think we are all trying to figure it out. In fact I think many Twins fans looked at the need to keep Cuddyer at least partially as an insurance policy because well we thought Morneau was done.

So here we are Morneau has reported to spring training and I for one have high hopes. What do you think ? Will he be back? What kind of player will he be? Will he be a guy we would happily trade for a beat -up aged Vladimir Guerrero or will he bring us to our feet and help drive the Twins to a showdown for a division title with the Tigers.

Will we be Talking about his demise or his return and rise back to stardom?
