In his final spring training "tune up", Carl Pavano wasn't exactly sharp. The Red Sox slapped him around a bit, allowing four runs off seven hits and a pair of hit batters (Cody Ross and Kevin Youkilis, who it seems the people of Boston believe he has one or two HBPs coming his way if Karma has anything to say about it). Pavano struck out three and, apart from beaning a pair of Beantowners, didn't give out a free pass.
Alex Burnett is nearing the end of his spring training contribution, striking out one but allowing a run off three hits. His spring training ERA is up to 6.97. Based off of Casey Fien's spring, it's difficult to see Burnett getting too long of a leash.
Bobby Lanigan, Jonathan Goncalves, Estarlin De Los Santos, Josmil Pinto, Deibinson Romero, and James Beresford all made appearances today as special invitations. Beresford notched a single in the top of the ninth, but with two out the rally was far too little, far too late. Lanigan pitched a scoreless eighth.
We'll be back later tonight for some discussion on what appears to be the Opening Day roster. Until then, enjoy your afternoons.
