Twins 7, Yankees 3: Yeah, That Just Happened

BOOM.

Let me tell you a story, folks: One day, the Minnesota Twins took a trip to New York to play the Yankees, who continually beat them, time after time. The pitcher, Carl Pavano, promptly gave up two home runs in the bottom of the first inning, after his team had managed to score two runs at the top of the inning. The Yankees scored another run in the bottom of the first, and Twins fans all over Twins Territory saw what was coming. But, friends, this story does not end like most...no, this is the legendary tale of When the Twins Beat the Yankees in New York.

The rest of the tale is after the jump.

Carl Pavano pitched a solid seven innings for the Twins tonight (despite giving up back-to-back home runs to Derek Jeter and Curtis Granderson in the first inning), Justin Morneau not only moved back to first base, but also homered in the 6th inning off Freddy Garcia, and the Twins offense came to life in a big way. Joe Mauer, not to be outdone by the Canadian Crusher, had himself a nice little game tonight as well, going 3-for-4 with a couple doubles, a walk, and an RBI. Jamey Carroll and Ryan Doumit also had multi-hit games, both picking up a couple hits and an RBI each. Alexi Casilla made a great toss to second baseman Jamey Carroll to get the force out, and with effective bullpen pitching, the Twins actually won a game in the Bronx tonight.

Oh, and the best part about that? It actually happened.
