It's been an exceptionally long day, and that's not going to change much over the next couple of weeks. As a result, tonight's recap will be in the form of talking points. Feel free to bring up your own in the comments.

Suspect Umpiring

Bert commented on it a couple of times, and I'm pretty sure that didn't count the time Phil Cuzzi called a fair ball foul. Granted, the call went in our favor, but it clearly sprayed up chalk. Who misses that? Phil Cuzzi.

Alexi Casilla

Not only did he pick up two hits tonight, but he also made a couple of good plays in the field. A bare-handed grab off a deflection that Chris Parmelee snagged by doing something like the splits, and then a tag and relay to first for a double play in the ninth. When he has a good game, Alexi can be very fun to watch. Too bad not many other people could pick up Joe Blanton.

Joe Blanton

A complete game shutout off seven hits, seven strikeouts, and no walks. He got ahead, stayed ahead, was efficient, he turned hitter's counts into outs. What else can you say about it? COMPLETE GAME SHUTOUTS ARE THE NEW MARKET INEFFICIENCY.

Scott Diamond

Do you guys remember when I cursed him in the pre-game? Yeah. This one's on me. Turncoat Jesse.

Trevor Plouffe

Another home run makes what, five in six games? What an unbelievable stretch.

Josh Willingham

Yes Pig struck out three times and his hitting streak came to a halt after 15 games. Nobody really had Blanton's number tonight, and Willingham's aggressiveness was used against him. The good news is that Willingham will come right back out tomorrow and bosh the baseball like a boss.

P.J. Walters

Walters is indeed heading for the disabled list, which means Liam Hendriks is definitely coming up for Saturday's game. Has anyone else read what the second roster move is going to be?
