Twins Pound Indians,12-5

You know how after an offensive outbreak, we joke about how the Twins used up all their runs and they won't score many the next day? Well, that wasn't true tonight, as after yesterday's 11-0 victory, they came back to score 12 more runs in a 12-5 win over the Indians.

At first, it looked like Justin Masterson was going to shut down the Twins again, while Samuel Deduno would be the one to struggle. Masterson was perfect through the first 3 2/3 innings, while Deduno quickly notched 2 walks and an earned run in his first inning as the Indians took an early 1-0 lead. However, Masterson walked Joe Mauer with 2 outs in the 4th, and he would surrender the lead for good when Josh Willingham deposited a slider beyond the left-center field fence for a 2-1 lead.

After that first inning, Deduno never faced more than 4 batters in an inning, although he did walk three more batters and I bet he would have walked the Dugout Box ushers too if they had been given a chance to step up to the plate. As for the offense, they kept attacking Masterson, scoring 3 runs in the 5th and 5 in the 6th. The highlights here were a 2-run triple by Alexi Casilla in the 5th, and back-to-back 2-run doubles by Casilla and Denard Span in the 6th.

Luis Perdomo made his Twins debut in the 9th inning, and it did not go well. Dare I say, Perdomo turned into a Perdo-no? He did get 2 outs, but he also loaded the bases with 2 walks and a single. Up 12-3, it was mildly frightening, and Perdomo should have gotten out of the inning, but Danny Valencia had a throwing error to make it 12-4. After another walk, Perdomo was pulled in favor of Casey Fien, who probably earned a save in the minds of some Twins fans when he struck out Carlos Santana with the bases still loaded to end the game.
