#Twins announce they have outrighted LHP Pedro Hernandez to AAA. Likely has option to elect free agency.— Chris Cotillo (@ChrisCotillo) October 29, 2013
Hernandez, 24, came to the Twins with infielder Eduardo Escobar in the trade that sent Francisco Liriano to the White Sox in August, 2012. The left-handed Hernandez made 12 starts and two relief appearances for Minnesota this season, posting red flags in his peripheral numbers as well as the mainstream ones.

This move brings the Twins' 40-man roster to 35 players, with two caveats:
- Mike Pelfrey will be removed when free agency officially begins, and
- Samuel Deduno will be added when he is activated from the 60-day disabled list
