Why are we letting 20 million going unspent without improving the team for 2013 and beyond. At this point the list of desirable free agents has dwindled to a small few players. I'll suggest Kyle Lohse for example because he would have many takers if handed to them. I do understand that the Twins would have to forfeit their 2nd round pick to acquire him as well. Maybe a month or two ago there were better examples with no draft picks attached. However, if we could sign Loshe for say 2 years and around 20-25 million. We could offer him to any team willing to give a top level pitching prospect and a couple of mid-level players to offset our second round pick. We would have to be willing to eat say 80% of his contract to get any potential takers. If a team feels they are close to contending for a championship and could get Lohse for 2 years at 5 million they might listen? With this approach could we use our surplus budget to acquire some teams top prospect? Could something like this work, your thoughts?
