Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

We come to the first of the man, many catchers in camp with the Twins this spring.

Eric Fryer, C
Age: 27

Over the last two seasons, Fryer has caught 8 games and played each corner outfield position once for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Unfortunately for him it doesn't look like his career trajectory will be changing too much. The numbers aren't there and the talent hasn't translated into performance.

There are a couple of circumstances that put the decision for Fryer on ice before spring training even started. The first is that the Twins are already carrying five catchers on their 40-man roster (Joe Mauer, Ryan Doumit, Drew Butera, Chris Herrmann, Josmil Pinto), and the second is that teams will always carry a convoy of catchers in spring training in order to have the manpower to catch 30+ pitchers.

Chanes of making the team: Unlikely.
