Royals 6, Twins 1: Way too Hot to Do Anything, Twins Only Score One Run

omg now the Royals are just trolling us. - Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

The heat index neared 100+ degrees as the Twins and Royals hitters failed to do anything--until the sun went down.

Kevin Correia pitched a great game for the Twins today, giving up 0 runs on 6 hits overs 7 innings pitched--but it wasn't enough for a Twins win. Jared Burton came in to pitch in the top of the 8th inning and was pulled after only achieving 1 out (and 4 earned runs). One of those nights.

The Royals broke the game open in the top of the 8th with a short fly ball to right field (!), a suicide squeeze (!!), and a bunt (!!!). Who do the Royals think they are? The Twins?

The Twinkers came back against Kansas City with a whimper in the bottom of the 8th inning, when Brian Dozier hit an "it's just too hot to care about that ball" RBI double. Unfortunately, that's all the Twins would muster for the night (because it's just too dang HOT!).

Bill Butler hit another home run in the top of the 9th inning, because, you know, it was TOO DANG HOT OUT. But I guess Royals players are used to this kind of heat.

DANG IT. IT'S HOT!

Studs

Maybe Correia. But it's too hot.

Duds
