Know Thine Enemy: Over the Monster
Despite allowing two home runs to David Ortiz, the Twins capitalized on a late homer of their own from Chris Parmelee to take Game 1 of the series against the Red Sox. An interesting thing to note is that Jason Kubel is out of the lineup against the lefty Felix Doubront, meaning that Parmelee is the cleanup hitter today. You can tell which player is hitting better when the righty Chris Colabello isn't starting at all.
Doubront has been a frustrating starter for the Red Sox, even moreso than Francisco Liriano with the Twins. He puts up good strikeout rates (except for this year), has trouble with his control, and just can't seem to put it all together. Meanwhile the Twins trot out Kevin Correia who hasn't been any better this season. Though his peripherals aren't too far off from last season, he's been giving up more hits and his strand rate has been awful, contributing to his 6+ ERA.
