The Minnesota Twins defeat the San Diego Padres after late game sacrifice fly, 5-3

The Minnesota Twins and the San Diego Padres volleyed the lead five times on Tuesday, but the Twins came out on top for a 5-3 win on Tuesday at Petco Park.

The Twins pulled out the win thanks to a strong seventh inning. A sacrifice fly by Josmil Pinto scored Eduardo Escobar and gave the Twins the lead for good.

It was a good day at the plate for the Twins' Chris Parmelee. Parmelee went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the second inning.

Kevin Correia racked up six strikeouts in the the Twins win. Correia allowed three earned runs on four hits and one walk over six innings.

Ian Kennedy was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted 6 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out six, and allowed four runs.

Twins closer Glen Perkins put away the final three outs to record the save.

In the top of the second, the Twins grabbed the early lead, 1-0. A solo blast by Parmelee started the inning off.

The Twins scored base in each of the third, sixth, seventh, and eighth. In the third, the Twins scored on an RBI single by Trevor Plouffe, plating Brian Dozier.
