The Minnesota Twins drop heartbreaker to the Toronto Blue Jays, 5-4

A ninth-inning the Toronto Blue Jays single spelled defeat for the Minnesota Twins, falling 5-4 in walk-off fashion at Rogers Centre on Monday.

With the score tied at four in the ninth inning, Kevin Pillar came to the plate and singled, plating Erik Kratz.

Danny Santana was hot from the plate for the Twins. Santana went 2-5, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the first inning and singled in the second inning.

Casey Janssen got the win for the Blue Jays. He allowed two runs over one inning. Janssen struck out one, walked none and gave up three hits.

The Blue Jays were sparked by Edwin Encarnacion and Jose Reyes, who teamed up for five hits and four RBIs.

Matt Guerrier ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He pitched 1 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed one run.

In the top of the first, the Twins grabbed the early lead, 2-0. A solo blast by Santana started the inning off. The Twins pushed more runs across when scored on a solo home run by Brian Dozier.

The Blue Jays survived the Twins' surge and put up three runs of their own in the first. The Blue Jays scored on a three-run home run by Encarnacion.

The Blue Jays scored one run in the fifth inning, and then followed it up with one more in the ninth. In the fifth, the Blue Jays scored on a solo home run by Jose Reyes.
