The Minnesota Twins fall to the Detroit Tigers 4-3 on late run

A ninth-inning the Detroit Tigers sacrifice fly spelled defeat for the Minnesota Twins, falling 4-3 in walk-off fashion at Comerica Park on Sunday.

With the score tied at three, J.D. Martinez hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Torii Hunter.

Joe Mauer did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Twins, reaching base three times. He doubled in the sixth inning and singled in the ninth inning.

Joe Nathan got it done on the bump on the way to a win. He pitched one shutout inning. He struck out none, walked none and surrendered two hits.

Casey Fien took the loss for the Twins. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.

The bottom of the first saw the Tigers take an early lead, 1-0. Ian Kinsler doubled to ignite the Tigers' offense. A groundout by Hunter then moved Kinsler from second to third. Victor Martinez doubled, plating Kinsler.

The Tigers got one-run boosts in each of the second, sixth and ninth. In the second, the Tigers scored on a sacrifice fly by Nick Castellanos, scoring Austin Jackson.
