The Minnesota Twins muster more hits but fall 6-2 to the Milwaukee Brewers

The Minnesota Twins lost 6-2 at Miller Park on Monday evening, despite outhitting the Milwaukee Brewers 12 to nine.

The Twins were led by a flawless day at the dish by Josh Willingham, who went 2-2 against the Brewers' pitching. He singled in the second and eighth innings.

Matt Garza got the win for the Brewers. He tossed 6 1/3 innings of shutout ball. Garza struck out eight, walked two and gave up six hits.

The Brewers were sparked by Jonathan Lucroy and Mark Reynolds, who teamed up for four hits and four RBIs.

Kyle Gibson couldn't get it done on the mound for the Twins, taking a loss. He lasted just six innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed four runs.

The game was never in doubt after the fourth, as the Brewers scored two runs on two singles.

The Brewers pushed across one run in both the seventh inning and the eighth. In the seventh, the Brewers scored on an error, scoring Khris Davis.

One run in the top of the eighth helped the Twins close their deficit to 5-1. An RBI single by Willingham gave the Twins life. But, Rob Wooten got Kurt Suzuki to strike out to end the inning.

The Brewers quickly matched the Twins' inning with a one-run inning of their own in the eighth. The Brewers scored on a solo home run by Lucroy.

One run in the top of the ninth helped the Twins close their deficit to 6-2. An RBI single by Brian Dozier triggered the Twins' comeback. The Twins' Joe Mauer struck out to end the ballgame.
