If I had a made a game thread poll asking "Which of these things is most likely to happen in today's game?" and gave the options: A.) Francisco Liriano gives up no walks; B.) Andrew McCutchen hits an inside the park home run; C.) Miguel Sano is TOOTBLAN'ed twice; D.) Deolis Guerra comes in to pitch against the Twins; E.) Ervin Santana gives up 8 runs (6 earned)—which option would you have picked?
Wouldn't matter, because all of those things happened.
And that McCutchen inside the parker—I'm not even sure if that was technically an "inside the park home run"? I don't know WHAT that was. Here's what GameDay listed it as:
MLB could have just labeled the play as "Little League Home Run." Oh, wait, that's actually exactly what they labeled it.
As a silver lining, Aaron Hicks had another great game, going 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI. He looked like great trading bait a future center field main-stay.
Eddie Rosario and Edurado Nunez had errors, and Ervin Santana had one too. Then there is Miguel Sano. Oh Sano. While he did manage to get 2 RBIs, both times he was thrown out on the base paths after the run was scored—the second time by over sliding second base in the 9th inning to end the game.
Oh, yeah. I guess there was another silver lining here: this game ended.
