Jo-Doz. The most boring baseball rivalry ever.

Typically since his first call up, hometown native Joe Mauer has been the face of the Minnesota Twins to fans both locally and nationally. Though this season Mauer teammate Brian Dozier has caught the eye of the baseball world as he chases long established home run records, becoming a fan favorite to both young and old across the nation and the topic of countless blogs and newspaper headlines examining the stats of his historic season.

Unbenounced to Twins fans or the media, a quiet chess match between the two has slowly brewed, with the apparent antagonist being Mauer. Seemingly Mauer has not been too keen on the recent popularity of his fellow infielders' Silver Slugger season or MVP caliber hair.

Usually when one thinks of baseball rivalries, big ego's and fiery personalities come to mind. Not so when you mix Minnesota nice with Southern hospitality.

In this series of recent photos you can plainly see the passive-aggressive behaviour of Mauer played upon the unwitting Dozier. All the while fellow teammates and coaching staff seem to look the other way, as if too scared to intervene in "That's Mr. MVP to You Pal" 's subtle yet diabolical schemes against the second baseman.

At this time it is unknown if Dozier is aware of Mauer's antics, though it is possible he knows full well and is just pretending to be the nice guy while usurping Mauer's throne to become the next great Twin.

Dozier hinted at the fact he knew about Mauer's evil hijinks in a recent quote saying "He was so good for so long. I'd really hate to see him get another concussion and have to retire or whatever."

Mauer, spotted peeking around a corner in the clubhouse, was unavailable for comment.
